I love April. It starts off with waiting for Mastro and Robert Edward previews to get up, then spending the rest of the month adding and subtracting stuff to your favorites and bidding on stuff in those auctions. Normally, Lelands would be included in this, but even I can't find out when their auction is this year (last year it was the same weekend as Robert Edward).
Last year, I bought the best Al Simmons bat in the world from Mastro, then followed it up with a Willie Mays bat and a huge wire photo lot from Robert Edward and a couple wire photo lots from Lelands. Call it a spending binge, but I prefer the term "investing." I'll refrain from totalling it up.
This year, there are plenty more incredible items, but I will be much more frugal. I'll definitely be following the
Ted Williams 400th Home Run game-used bat
and the
Wilt Chamberlain Kansas game-used jersey
in Mastro Auctions, but I don't have the funds to win items like that. I might go after the
Hank Greenberg sidewritten bat
or the
Roberto Clemente All-Star bat
, but they'll both probably go higher than I would pay. I'm definitely interested in the
Mel Ott signed photo
and the
Pete Maravich signed checks lot
, as well as the
Jabbar game-used Lakers jersey
. Bidding starts on April 9.
Robert Edward Auctions has 247 lots from the famous Barry Halper Collection and even if you can't afford most of the stuff, it's still amazing stuff. The Babe Ruth-signed balls are incredible and there's a lot of artwork and autographs, but the Brooks Robinson game-used stuff stands out to me. I could see adding the
game-used bat
to my "wall of bats."

I hope some people are checking out these links! That Wilt Chamberlin Kansas jersey is up over $20,000 with two weeks to go. It will be interesting to watch that Ted Williams 400th home run bat at hammer time.
